THE NAME WAS EARNED

Cody got his start in coffee in 2014. Within a year he was roasting — and pulling apart the espresso machines nobody else wanted to touch. The nickname actually came from hockey first: Houdini, for what he could do on the ice. Once shop owners saw what he could do with a roaster and a dead machine, it stuck for good. The Coffee Magician. He didn't pick it. It got handed to him — twice. Eventually it went on the bag.

Ten years, three coffee programs, a trip to Brazil with importers and a Best Espresso run at the SCA later, the approach hasn't changed. Small-batch, roasted to order, and tested behind a real bar before it ever reaches yours.
